Great food, good prices. Food is always good, there will be a wait during the winter season, as there are many snowbirds who frequent here. Try the cheese crisp it is yummy. Good chili relleno's and burritos, have not had anything I did not like. My husband loves the cheese enchiladas. This place gets 5 stars. You won't leave hungry....

The decor is good and so is the service. Nothing special about the food but for the area its in, this place is 'great'. It gets 4 stars because its all relative :-).

  • Dan W.

Wow, four stars? Everything about this screamed tourist to me, but the lot was so full I gave it a chance. The salsa was bland and blander. The chips were ok, mostly, but every once in a while a really stale chip would surface. I had the flat stack chicken enchiladas. These came Suisa style which was interesting but again lacked much flavor. My spouse had the Chimichanga which again was ok, but she had to pour on all the remaining "hot" sauce to give it much flavor. I admit we come from green chile country, but I can not believe the locals love their food this mild and flavorless. It is edible and there is a lot of food if you are hungry, but I would say look elsewhere.

  • Greg B.

Yuck! Food was edible at best. Chili rellenos swimming in a "broth"??? Asked a passing waiter who said the liquid on the plate was from the broth they dip the rellenos in... Not sure what he meant. Our waitress said she was surprised of the amount of liquid on my plate, but she served it anyways. She took the plate back and they put the same ones on a dry plate. Still soggy. But hey, margaritas were passable and salsa was good. Still, will not return....

Delicious sizzling fajitas and my brother's chimi made my mouth water! Great nachos and salsa, good drinks, nice place.

Just as you sit down at this traditional Mexican Restaurant, you are brought chips and salsa, hot or mild, for us a dish of each. You have to understand my son does NOT eat anything out of his small range of tried and true and this was his first visit here with us. He did a small taste of the mild salsa, which is a bit thin, and kept going, so this should tell you that mild is very mild. My husband seemed to enjoy the hot salsa. I ordered the Mexican plate, which includes a mini chimi, quesadilla, beans and an enchilada, I asked if I could sub out the enchilada for a beef burro, not a problem. Hubby got the Carne Asada plate, and my boy ordered a quesadilla from the app menu, there is a kids menu but he he won't eat the beans or rice included. Our food was served quickly, the flour tortillas were freshly homemade and delish! My son not only ate the quesadilla, but 1/2 a mini chimi, some of the beef from my tortilla, carne asada! This is a stamp of approval for any establishment. I also had a good 1/2 cup scoop of guac with my plate, everything was great. And for just under $30 (before tip). I also have a friend with allergies to peppers and they accomodate for her, this is one of the reasons why we originally chose to try them out! Mexican resaurant willing to work around no peppers! That's gotta say something.

Things that are 40 years old: * New York Magazine * the office cubicle * the computer mouse * Marc Anthony * seeing the dark side of the moon * the US Open * my parents' marriage Manuel's Restaurant has become my parents' favorite in recent years. For this reason, I contracted Manuel, himself, to cater their 40th anniversary party. He made exactly the right amount of food and had opinions about what is best for a crowd of 55 people! The man is a serious professional with a personable demeanor. And the food! My favorites include, but are not limited to: enchiladas, flautas, and fajitas. Plus, the salsa must be made from some sort of magical tomato that he imports from the land of unicorns because I've never tasted anything like it. Fabulous! And for the drinkers among you, he offers frozen or shaken margaritas, as well as a fairly good selection of beers. Festive atmosphere. Good parking situation. The place fills up with retirees fairly early in the evening, so be prepared to wait (it's worth it) if you arrive around 5pm.

Food is good, service is awful. Tried it 3 times, every time, service was terrible. Appertizers never came and they tried to charge us. Not everything on the menu is available.

    (3)
  • Cameron M.

The service is slow but friendly, bathrooms are extremely clean. The food is mediocre at best and completely overpriced. If you go I recommend getting the cheese crisp with no sauce and a Green corn tamal a la carte. I've had other items but these two are pretty much the only things worth having. The tortilla soup has no spice absolutely no flavor, it tastes like broth and veggies.

  • kathy w.

I am a regular. Friday nights, the end of a hard week, you need the best homemade salsa and a great margarita. Forget that their green corn tamales are soft and sweet or that their fish tacos are crunchy and not greasy. The wait staff would love to stay and chat, but they are slammed because the place is so busy. So, if they seem a little serious, it is because they are working hard. Manuel and family oversee everything and I feel like this is a place you can count on for good, consistent Mexican food.

    (4)
  • Dennis T.

Meh. It's average Mexican food. I expect much better than this from this part of the country.

    (3)
  • Kristen S.

Good food, good service, great salsa. But it only gets four stars cause it was crowded and loud and we were seated right by a walkway to another room. Felt like I was in the way.

    (4)
  • Jacquie B.

We have been going to Manuel's for 10-11 years now. We love the food...nothing fancy just a good Sonoran fare. Very friendly waiters, and servers. Service is great. If you visit when the Snowbirds are in town expect a wait.....they know where to return for good food.

    (5)
  • Darrell R.

Awesome food service spectacular...nicest waitress I have had in 20 years...very happy, perky, friendly...what else can I say:).

    (5)
  • Olga E.

The carnitas are real good (pork). It's Americanized Mexican food. They use pre-cooked taco shells for tacos, not my idea of authentic. Decent Salsa as well. Nice, friendly staff.

  • Kirt B.

My wife and I find this to be our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The salsa is an A+ and the food is ready quick and overall is an A. The chicken soup is spot on and the ham and egg breakfast burrito is absolutely to die for! I don't typically eat salsa in the morning, but theirs is so good on that burrito that I can't wait to go back for more. Very good value on that breakfast burrito as well.

    (4)
  • Jill C.

Nothing fancy but good food and good, solid service. Have eaten there twice (once for lunch, once for dinner) and have had the chile rellenos (were ok, but small- they use a Hatch type chile) and also the tacos (which were good!). Portions are on the small side, so order an appetizer!

  • Ben S.

A popular local Mexican-style restaurant, we've been to Manuel's many times. It's a family run shop, with Manuel and a few of his children among the large staff. Portions are large, and prices are quite low (3 of us ate for under $30, including a margarita and a few beers). Service is quite quick. The menu is simple iterations on a few basic themes, but whether you're looking for Mexican or Tex-Mex, there's something on there for you. They don't take reservations and, because of popularity, there tends to be a wait to be seated (30 or 45 minutes has not been uncommon). Also, be aware that they tend to close early (8 at the time of this review), so make sure you check their hours. It's not the best Mexican in the Tucson area, but it makes my 'short list'. It's reliably good and affordable. We've been back many times, and will continue to return!

Manuel's is the real deal in Green Valley. Tantalizing soups, hot salsa, abundant chips, delicious shrimp...they have it all. This is by far the Best Mexican restaurant south of Tucson.

  • erin g.

i live in illinois now and miss manuel's more than i can say. i used to come here weekly to get a beef enchilada and tons of chips and salsa -- to this day, the best chips and salsa i've EVER eaten. i've even gone as far as having my mom ship a gallon of their salsa to me across the US. it seriously doesn't get better than manuel's. trust me on this. hoping to make it back this summer and manuel's will be the first place i visit! can't wait!!!!

We've lived in the Tucson area for many years and have tried most of the area Mexican eateries. Manuel's is the best we have found. And we have been coming here once or twice a week for years. Here is a tip: Come for breakfast. Best breakfasts in Green Valley. They serve the usual American style fare at reasonable prices until 11:00 am daily. But try the omelets, which stay on the menu until 4:00 pm. My wife gets the veggie omelet with mushrooms, onions, several types of mild peppers, and more. I get the big omelet with all that plus choice of meat; I get ham. Wow! Served with rice and beans. For lunch or dinner try an ala carte Chili Relleno and a shrimp enchilada. On occasion, I get creative and order a breakfast or lunch omelet filled with the filling they use in their shrimp enchilada. Manuel is usually around, so I asked if he'd consider doing a shrimp omelet. He said, "Sure. Go ahead and order it."

Beef fajitas at lunch some of the most tender strips I have had, and I have had many, many since discovering them around 1983. The sauce, bell peppers and onions were as expected, and did not overpower the beef. The red salsa served with the chips needed a bit of habanero hot sauce to bring it up to my Southern California tastes, but was readily available on the table. Chips were not greasy, which I like, but may be a bit dry for some. Service at the end of lunch hour was fine. No booths and few parking spaces when I arrived. NOTE: Missed seeing it first loop through. If you get to Big O Tire, slow down, you are close or missed it. The sign is away from the street. PS: Be sure to visit the Titan II Missile Museum and tour just west (?) of here.

Good food. The staff is very friendly. Any issues and the staff will take care of it. I love the deluxe cheese crisp w carne asada and my brothers custom "jerry" Burrito(carne asada, shrimp, grilled onions and peppers, rice, no beans, sour cream)is awesome!

    (4)
  • Jerry M.

The Best Mexican restaurant in Green Valley! Expect a wait around lunch and dinner time, but only because this place is worth it. I've tried a number of dishes and everything tastes fresh, homemade and consistent. They have a full bar to watch a game and the staff is very friendly!

    (4)
  • D M.

Breakfast was amazing! The entire staff amazing! I will definitely stop by EVERYTIME I'm in Green Valley!

  • Carrie B.

I was lucky enough to have Mother's Day lunch here. My family treated me to a lovely lunch complete with a bright green melon margarita. We started with Ceviche and a pork dish for appetizers. The kids had virgin mango margaritas, too. Then we got a cheese crisp and my entree was steak fajitas (men and the baby shared). The service was great and just the right amount of being checked on plus our drinks and salsa were full at the right times, too. We were all blown away by the quality of the food. It's truly a hidden gem to anyone who has not tried it yet. But don't wait, because the word has gotten out! All of the tables were full and even the bar was busy. All that food and a good time ran us about $75 + tip. For a date night, family lunch or plain old dinner out, Manuel's definitely fits the bill.

  • Carlie L.

A very nice experience. They were able to accommodate my vegetarianism by making vegetable fajitas-- which were very good, and with portions big enough to take home for leftovers. My mom and grandmother also enjoyed their meals. A great casual family restaurant for some classic Mexican food!

    (4)
  • Stephanie D.

Nope, will not go back. Such a cute place, looks inviting but food not that great and horrible service. It wasn't my first visit there either, it was my third, and I honestly don't know why I kept going back. I thought maybe it was an off day so I kept trying to go back hoping the next experience would b better but it was not! Done with this place next time I crave Mexican I'll just go to Rigoberto's :)

    (1)
  • Kristi W.

Love love love! Totally crave this place and so we always go at least twice when we go to visit friends and family in Sahuarita and Green Valley! I prefer Manny's any day over La Placita! So delish. Only downfall is they can have a tendency to be slow. So order their yummy margs and keep the chips and yummy salsa flowing and you'll be great! ;) oh and White sauce....that's all I have to say! Order it!

    (4)
  • Michael L.

Possibly the best chili relleno I've ever eaten. I also enjoyed the cheese enchilada, rice and beans. The employees were also very friendly.

  • Steven H.

Spot on great food! We had a large party to satisfy (four adults and three children) and they nailed it for us all. Chicken fingers for one kid, a taco for another and quesadilla for the third. The adults had chicken fajitas and a taco salad. All was amazing, even the salsa before the meal was fantastic! We even ordered a few fried ice creams for dessert and they have is enough spoons for all to share. We arrived early (kids remember) which definitely helped because by the time we left(about 5pm) the place was packed and deservedly so. Try them, you won't regret it. Cannot wait to get back here and so glad we found them on Yelp!

  • B. T.

I've eaten there many times since my original review and would change nothing I wrote. It may (or may not) be "the best Mexican restaurant in Green Valley)--certainly it's the most popular--but it is emphatically NOT the best within a moderate drive to Green Valley. That honor would belong to my fave Elvira's in Tubac or other peoples' fave, Wisdom's, which is near Tubac on the frontage road.

    (3)
  • Barbara A.

This place hits it out of the park! A small bar (I don't drink but it looks real authentic in there), the place is clean and lively the moment you walk in the front door! The staff are all very friendly and helpful and ready to serve you! No waiting around for anything, once you sit down to your chips and salsa until you are waddling out the front door you are smiling inside and out with the great authentic food, perfect menu, great service and happy atmosphere. The specials are really a good buy and never disappoint you. Ceviche, combo plates, all the way to the fajitas you will love anything you order off this menu! It's a very popular place, especially during the winter months so be ready to meet up with a full parking lot and restaurant but they can handle the crowds!

  • John S.

I really enjoy the food and appetizers here, my kids enjoy it also, but mostly adults and elderly visit. I really enjoy the chimichanga with red sauce. And their chips and salsa are great. I never had a complaint about this place and whenever I am in a "Manuel's mood" I will visit again.

    (4)
  • Nicole W.

My favorite local place. Guaranteed good food and good service everytime. Have been going here for years. Always plenty of chips and salsa while you wait:)

    (5)
  • Lauren T.

Start with the Cheese Crisp. I know it is not authentic Mexican style food, but after all, we are in Green Valley. And it is yummy! Their fajitas were sizzling and yummy and their chimichangas and enchiladas get the job done if you are in the area and hungry. I have had better Mexican (granted I come from Southwest NM and am used to that flavorful Mexican food) Sometimes when it is busy you get shafted up at the front, but once you are seated the service gets better. It is a clean and bright restaurant with lots of room. If you are in the area and want a place where you might see some younger faces around Green Valley, try here.

    (2)
  • Stacy S.

I was not impressed with the food at Manuel's Restaurant. I ordered a beef taco and chicken enchilada combination plate. The food was bland, and the rice was some of the worst I have ever had. The service was good and that is why I gave this place 2 stars.

    (2)
  • Jean D.

Service great, chips and salsa good. Margaritas ok, not sweet but glasses cute! Disappointed in the Mexican plate, quesadilla burnt on the underside uneatable, Compensated well! Would come back again

    (3)
  • Lauren K.

Wow! I have to admit, we came here with very, VERY low expectations. But boy, were we wrong! Thankfully! Manuel's is a very solid Mexican restaurant, definitely worth a visit or six! When you first enter, you are greeted by...usually no one when it's not busy. You just seat yourself. We were intimidated by this at first, but it turned out to be just fine. The restaurant itself is clean and new looking, and there is a lot of seating to choose from. Once you sit, you are immediately greeted by chips and salsa! Yum! You can choose between hot and not hot salsa, and we always get the hot. It's not actually very hot, but it is very tasty. The chips are usually warm and fresh. I've had better chips and salsa, but I've had A LOT worse! We always get the cheese crisp (no chiles on top) for an appetizer. Oh. My. God. This is the most fantastic cheese crisp I've ever eaten EVER! And I've had a lot of them in my time. They make it look like a little Mexican pizza, adding their very unique enchilada sauce around the edges of the crisped tortilla. I've never seen another place do this, and I think it's a great addition. My mouth is watering as I type. It is so good. They use plenty of cheese, and they crisp it all up perfectly. It is a greasy dish, but what do you expect?! I love it! I would go here just for the cheese crisp! Their dinner meals are just ok, some are good, but none are home runs. The chicken is tasty, but it's just pulled chicken with nothing remarkable in it to break up the mouth feel of just a huge lump of chicken. The same goes for the shredded beef. The flavors are ok, but it's just too one note to eat an entire burrito's worth. The cheese enchiladas are my favorite. That should be no surprise, though, since I love the enchilada sauce on the cheese crisp, and the cheeses are the same as well. The prices at Manuel's are very reasonable, and you get tons of food for what you're paying. TIP: If you don't like rice and beans, get everything a la carte. You'll save even more money! The service here is erratic and fast paced when the place is busy, but they do their jobs well. We drive all the way from the east side of Tucson to eat here at least once a month, it's that good! Give it a try if you're ever in the area, you won't be disappointed!

Bland, bland and Bland. Rice is super bland. White corn chips and tortillas ... bland. Spendy price. I will look for a good tacqueria.

After taking a tour of the Whipple Observatory on Mt. Hopkins, we stopped in Green Valley after Yelping for a good restaurant. Up came Manuel's. I like it. The decor and ambience are relaxing and attractive. I'd give good grades for their food and salsa (delivered by the Salsa Man who holds 2 containers of mild and hot in his hands when he arrives at your table) and sauces. My only complaint deals with the food temperature as I would like the tamale and enchilada hotter but they were very tasty nonetheless. I read about the service here and it was fine. Our server was very nice and attentive. I just noticed a lack of smiles from many of the staff. I like to see a happy staff for I think that translates into us leaving as happy customers. When I'm in the Green Valley area and have a hankerin' for Mexican food, I will head right back to Manuel's.

This is a family run place that is consistently good and usually crowded in the early evening. Popular with snowbirds but plenty of young families eat here also. They have a nice patio with a small fountain and some seating if you have to wait. They also have a small bar. The food is what I call traditional mexican, being a gringa who grew up in so cal. They start you off with the endless supply of chips and salsa. I believe they are home made because the salsa varies in heat from visit to visit. The mild is very mild and my daughter eats it with a spoon like soup. The hot is sometimes hot, other times medium. My husband likes to ask them to put half and half in his bowl. We have all liked every item we have ordered, with faves being the enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, rellenos, chicken soup, cheese crisp, burritos...

  • Jenny F.

My parents were told by a friend that they HAD to try Manuel's. That led to me somehow being suckered into taking a 38 minute drive for what was promised to be some of the best Mexican food I've ever had in my entire life. I was sorely disappointed. I'm sure Manuel's is ok if you live in Green Valley and you have few dining options, and it probably would be ok if it was located in Seattle (where I currently live). However, I was born and raised on the south side of Tucson. I know good Mexican food, and this was......meh. I started with a cheese crisp, because quite a few people raved about it here on Yelp. Blah, it was like eating a big soggy cheese pizza. The crisp in cheese crisp is a key word. It's not supposed to be a soggy tortilla covered in about 2 pounds of melted cheese. Next I got chicken fajitas. Again, soooo very unimpressive and flavorless. There rice and beans were also sub par at best. The only points I can give them is for their salsa, it was not bad. I could have taken a cup home with me. And the staff was very nice. Here's my advice on Manuel's. Snowbirds, tourists, and people who enjoy bland food will like it.

    (3)
  • Matt G.

They serve decent mexican food, but nothing great. Guacamole was bland and tasteless, as was the rest of the food. Definitely better mexican food to be had in the Tucson area. Points go to the waitress who was very accommodating to my vegetarian wife. She knew what was in the food, and offered to have the kitchen make her a vegetarian burrito, which wasnt on the menu. I was with a large party of about 10 and they didnt mess anything up either....margaritas were nice and strong too.

  • Daniel N.

Excellent service. I ate at the bar just as people were walking in. Ordered the small nachos as an appetizer. Good size portion, came with cheese on top, sour cream and guacamole on the side. Had the 2 item combo of a beef hard taco and cheese enchilada. Taco got soggy before I could enjoy it. Enchilada was good. Beans had cheese on top and the rice was good. Sopapillas for dessert were excellent. Sugar and cinnamon on top with honey and vanilla ice cream on the side.

Used to live in Sahuarita and miss Manuel's SO bad that we've chosen not to change dentists so that we can eat there at least twice a year! Consistent food. Great service. Family run. And OH...I miss the salsa!!!

    (4)
  • Jessica H.

During my sad stint in Sahuarita, this was one of my go-to spots. Although Manuel's isn't anything to write home about, it's just about all you can ask for in a Tex-Mex (or whatever they call it in Arizona) style restaurant. The salsa is great, and everyone there is super friendly. There aren't many places to eat out in the Green Valley/Sahuarita area, so Manuel's is almost always busy! That being said, I've never had to wait very long to be seated and the food is always fast and good!

best mexican restaurant in green valley. great food and awesome tortilla soup. they also serve alcohol and have a small bar area. the orchatas are very good. the prices are reasonable and you get good portions. chips and salsa rock, too.

I've only eaten here twice but both times I visited it was a very enjoyable experience. The food was good and the Margarita's were HUGE and delicious. I'd say the worst part of the two visits was the wait to get in. I give this place two thumbs up and would recommend it to anyone who likes Mexican food.

    (4)
  • Amy M.

We had dinner here tonight. We usually dine here weekly. Summer time is the only time you can get a table quickly. Any other time of the year, you'll have a 30 minute wait. Employees are super friendly. Are whole family has their favorites. Carne Asada plate, chicken chimi and the fried pork. We always start our dinner with a quesadilla appetizer Delicious!

  • Lorrin C.

My last visit was a while ago. Been down here about three weeks and made my first visit this time tonight. Nothing's changed much in over a year. Started with a strawberry margarita then chips, salsa, and a side of guacamole. Tonight I was not too hungry so backed off to a two item dinner of pork tamale, green corn tamale, rice, and beans. Tasty, good size helping. A bowl of chicken vegetable soup was part of the meal. Bottom line, large meal=leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The restaurant was busy. All seemed clean except the menu which needed a better job of wiping someone's dripped salsa. Can't say I'm not guilty of dripping but I try to clean mine up.

  • Cam W.

It's important that you start with one of their signature cadillac margaritas. Freshly made with real limes, and Grand Marnier! You will crave the chicken tortilla soup for years. I have. What I like best about Manuel's is the presence of Manuel himself. A proud, cheerful owner who keeps a watchful eye on his patrons and staff, and visits tables regularly to check in. We've eaten here a dozen times on probably every day of the week, and Manny is always there. I love that.

    (4)
  • Christopher C.

Excellent Mexican Food. They have good service and two types of salsa. This is nice for those who don't like hot salsa. I like it hot so I always get the hot. There chile verde is one of my favorites. It's quite a bit of food. Service is usually really good with prompt good and refills. Our whole office eats there a few times a year and they are always able to accommodate a large party. They are usually very busy at lunch time so expect a small wait. Even people from other areas mention Manuel's as the Mexican restaurant to go to in Green Valley. I had someone from a completely different area say this was the place to go.

    (5)
  • Amanda M.

A great place for lunch or dinner. Great atmosphere. They are always busy for dinner, but you can wait in the bar and enjoy a great margarita while you wait. I haven't had anything I didn't like. I did try the Jerry burrito as I read about it on yelp. It was amazing. I was shocked the staff knew what it was. You must try it. There dishes with shrimp are amazing. Best quality shrimp I've had in the desert. So many dishes to chose from, but so far I haven't been disappointed by any of them. Great job to the chef. We are now repeat customers. I can't wait to try their breakfast.

  • Brian K.

We are snowbirds and love Manuels during our winters in AZ. Can't find any Mexican food during the summer up here in the North that can come close. Yes, it's busy during the winter every night but grab a beer or margarita and relax. Well worth the wait! The Cadillac margarita will knock you on your butt! Better have a designated driver!

Best Mexican food!! Must try the shrimp enchiladas!!! Amazing!!! Piña coladas yummy!!! They make great food! And great drinks!! Service is always great!

This review is based on one visit. Like many others I went in with low expectations only to be amazed. SERVICE: 5/5 Service here was great. I liked how they designated secondary roles to specific staff member. For example, one waiter was given the role of ensuring salsa and chips were taken care of. Another was going around making sure simple drinks like iced tea and water were taken care of. We rarely had to call servers over for drinks and salsa/chip refill. The staff were all very friendly and nice which makes the dining experience better. FOOD: 5/5 Some people complained about the salsa. The restaurant offers a mild and spicy salsa. I do have to say their salsa is not that great. I feel it is too sweet and too much tomato is in there because thats really the strongest flavor. The spicy salsa, I have to agree that it is not that spicy. However, its not spicy immediately but it actually builds over time to a nice kick. I saw from other reviews that the cheese crisp was delicious so I decided to give it a shot. I have to say this was one of the best decisions of the day! I ordered a Deluxe Cheese Crisp with Carne Asada. It does come with your choice of beef or chicken but Carne Asada is an option at an extra charge. I would definitely recommend this as it brings a lot more flavor and it goes well with the pizza since it is made up of Mexican components (enchilada sauce, diced tomatoes/onions/peppers, chile, and Monterey jack cheese. I really enjoy thin crust pizzas but this has some sort of crispy tostada-shell like crust making it extra crispy and delicious! Try putting some of the spicy salsa on top for extra amazingness. This thing is supposed to be an appetizer but it is something that can definitely be split amongst 2-3 people! COST: 5/5 I thought cost was very reasonable. The cost rating is not based on my meal alone but based on my observation of the entire menu. You can expect around $6-9 for an entree. They have some special dishes in the low $10s. they also have daily specials at good prices. I would definitely come back. In fact I WILL be coming back in a few weeks. I usually try different meals but because I enjoyed the cheese crisp so much I think I may end up getting the same thing. We'll see...

It was just ok. Hubs got a massive burrito wjich he really liked and I got the quesadillas. Chips/salsa to start were good. The restaurant was very clean, food came out quickly, and staff was friendly. Four stars just because the food was sorta greasy/buttery.

Really good food. The salad included in meal had more than just greens. I got the pick two with burrito and enchilada. The shredded chicken homemade and delicious. Tortillas handmade. Just wonderful.

So, walking into Manuel's lead me to believe this place was going to be good. The building itself was nice, the inside decor was nice if not stereotypical, but there you go. When we were seated the lady who served us our chips and salsa was super nice and I thought she was going to be our server. Unfortunately, she was not. Instead we were stuck with a server, whom I could not remember her name, but she appeared as if she could not be bothered. As soon as she showed up to our table she was ready to take our dinner orders. We asked her if we could start with drinks first and an appetizer and the expression on her face was not very welcoming. It appeared as if we were bothering her. We ordered waters and cocktails. The strawberry margarita looked very processed and like an slushie; definitely not very enticing. We ordered a cheese crisp and it was like ordering a cheese pizza. There was the tortilla. Then on top of that was "Manuel's Sauce", then like 2 lbs. of cheese. The flavor was very bland and their famous sauce should be infamous as it made the taste and texture of the cheese "crisp" very soggy. With my meal I got either a salad or their "homemade" chicken soup. Not too sure whose home it was made in, but they can keep it. It was more of a carrots and zucchini soup with a few strands of shredded chicken sprinkled in. No thanks. Then came my order: the Chili Colorado with rice and beans. How can you mess up that dish? Well let me tell you. The meat was dry, bland and flavorless. It tasted as if it's been in the refrigerator for quite some time. Then the rice...the white rice with corn in it...what? Then the refried beans which were soupy and tasted as if they were dehydrated bean pieces that water was added to. Then the flour tortilla which was so dry, it was like I was using the nacho chips. The experience I had was as if this were a fast-food restaurant versus a sit down restaurant. So here's me take away from this dining experience...you're better off eating at Taco Bell rather than Manuel's. I will never go back to Manuel's mainly because of the server. Why am I tipping you for bad service? And two, I will not go back because of the food. I feel bad for the residence of Green Valley as this is perhaps their only option for "mexican't food".

Good food. Horrible service. We have been twice and liked our food each time. So apparantly the cooks/recipes are excellent- yea the salsa is probably bottled, but it could be way worse. I don't know if we just got new waitresses or what- they were nice, but both times food was forgotten, served w/ cheese all over the place when we asked for no cheese, didn't get refills, just basic bad service. We will be back, but we definitely won't come here when we are in a hurry.

This is our GO TO place when we are in the area visiting my mom. We always start with the cheese crisp... A delicious pizza sized crispy tortilla with melted cheese. Then, we share a main course. We have tried the fajitas, tacos, tamales, flautas...all excellent. I think the fajitas were our favorite. The portions are HUGE. The place is clean and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. If you are planning on going for dinner, get there early because the place fills up quickly.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
